REFSQ 2027
Mon 12 - Thu 15 April 2027 Basel, Switzerland

Requirements Engineering (RE) plays a crucial role in shaping the quality of software systems, services, and products. The REFSQ conference series has long been recognised as a leading international forum for discussing advances in RE and its relationship to quality.

REFSQ 2027 will feature a Posters and Tools Track, offering researchers and practitioners the opportunity to present emerging ideas, ongoing work, and innovative tools covering all aspects of RE. This track provides a platform for sharing early-stage results, novel concepts, and practical solutions with the community.

Further details will be announced soon.

Call for Posters and Tools

We welcome poster proposals that follow these criteria:

  • Posters should present progress towards a scientific result covering any topic within the scope of the REFSQ conference.
  • Posters do not have to describe finished work, but they should present some preliminary or anticipated results.
  • Posters should provide a concise and engaging overview that sparks discussion and invites the audience to actively engage with your work.
  • The methodology used for producing the results should be clarified and contrasted with the state-of-the-art.
  • Posters should not be advertisements for commercial products.

Submissions proposing a poster should describe the research work in the form of a short paper (see Submission below). Do not submit a draft poster with your proposal.

Evaluation Criteria

Posters will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Scope. Is the submission within the scope of REFSQ? Does it address relevant RE topics?
  • Methodology. Is the methodology clearly described and understandable? Is the approach appropriately justified?
  • Impact. Does the work invite discussion or exchange of ideas? Is it likely to engage the REFSQ community and conference participants?

Poster Presentation

Authors are required to prepare an A0, portrait-oriented poster that graphically summarizes their contribution. Posters will be displayed in a dedicated area alongside other posters and tool demonstrations. Authors are expected to be present during the session to present their work, engage with attendees, and actively participate in discussions.

Tools

We invite submissions proposing a tool demonstration that:

  • Present a tool under development (or that has been developed) as part of research or industrial work.
  • Clarify the relationship of the tool to RE.
  • Motivate the need for the tool.
  • Describe the goals, requirements, intended users, and context of the use of the tool.
  • Describe the novel contribution of the tool, and the novelty of the paper over earlier publications of the tool.
  • Clearly explain the architecture and inner workings of the tool.
  • Detail the workflow or interaction of a user with the tool.
  • Present briefly either the results of an evaluation or the design for a planned evaluation.
  • [Optional] Include a link in the abstract to a video presenting the tool’s demonstration scenario (4–8 minutes, using voice-over or captions where appropriate).
  • [Optional] Discuss any experiences and lessons learned when using the tool in practice.

Submissions proposing a tool should describe the research work in the form of a short paper (see Submission below).

Evaluation Criteria

Tools will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Scope. Is the submission within the scope of REFSQ? Does it address relevant RE topics?
  • Motivation. Is the need for the tool sufficiently motivated? Are the goals and intended use well defined?
  • Architecture and Design. Is the architecture clearly described and sufficiently detailed? Is the design sound and complete with respect to the tool’s objectives?
  • User Workflow. Is there a rich description of the user workflow? Are the tool’s functionalities and interactions understandable?
  • Impact. Is the tool relevant to the REFSQ audience? Is it likely to stimulate discussion or feedback from participants?

Tool Demonstrations

Authors are required to prepare an A0, portrait-oriented poster that graphically summarizes their contribution. Tools will be presented during the poster session at designated desks, using the authors’ own laptops and screens. Authors are expected to demonstrate their tool, interact with attendees, and engage in discussion. Presenting a complementary poster alongside the tool is recommended.

Open Science Policy

As in previous years, REFSQ 2027 features a dedicated Open Science track. We encourage authors to make their research and artifacts more accessible, reproducible, and verifiable by adhering to the Open Science Policy (to be published). To ensure that the research and artifacts are more accessible and that the REFSQ 2027 Open Science Policy is followed, an explicit Data Availability Statement (similar to the acknowledgments) should be included at the end of each submitted paper. Specifically, authors should provide details about any material disclosed alongside their submission, such as data, code, or other relevant material or justify the reasons why disclosure is not possible (e.g., due to IP agreements).

Best Poster & Best Tool Award

In REFSQ 2027, we follow the voting idea from the last editions:

  • The conference attendees will be asked to vote for the best poster and tool.
  • The authors of the best poster or tool will earn a reserved time slot in the main track to present their work.

Submission

For the submission, the general REFSQ submission guidelines apply, with the exception of the format. For both posters and tool demonstrations, we accept submissions in the form of a short paper of at least five pages and up to seven pages including references, and they should be formatted using the CEUR-ART style, one column (CEUR-ART style).

At least one of the authors must be registered at the conference and present the poster or tool in order to have the work published in the proceedings. Poster and tool papers shall be submitted to CEUR-WS for the joint proceedings of the REFSQ 2027 co-located events.

Contributions should be submitted using EasyChair at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=refsq2027

Make sure to select the “Posters and Tools” option.
