The REFSQ 2027 Industry Day will bring together practitioners in requirements engineering (RE) to share experiences and discuss RE & AI in Practice:
- What does AI mean for the RE profession?
- How can we tackle AI’s challenges and seize its opportunities?
Ahead of the conference, we are offering a series of activities for the RE practitioner community:
- Our first after-work event will take place on Thursday 19 November 2026 in Schlieren near Zurich, Switzerland.
- We are publishing a series of LinkedIn articles and posts on topics related to RE & AI.
- Webinars will give you a head start on the conference topics.
We are running several of these activities together with partners such as the International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) and its Swiss chapter.
Join us in exploring these key questions:
- What are the most promising application areas and use cases for AI in RE?
- What is the role of RE in the development of AI systems?
- What are the main challenges at the intersection of RE & AI?
- How is AI changing the discipline of RE?
- How can we introduce AI into RE and maximise its benefits?

| 09:30 – 10:30 | 60 min | Keynote An inspiring and insightful view from a leading voice in industry on where requirements engineering makes the difference, and where it has to go next. |
| 10:30 – 11:00 | 30 min | Coffee Break Fuel up, stretch your legs, and carry on the conversations the keynote started. |
| 11:00 – 12:00 | 60 min | Practice Keynote First-hand experience from the front lines of practice: real projects, real lessons, and ideas you can take back to your team on Monday. |
| 12:00 – 12:30 | 30 min | Wrap-up & Discussion We go back to the morning’s sticky notes: which questions were answered, which are still open, and which are new? |
| 12:30 – 14:00 | 90 min | Lunch Break The best collaborations at REFSQ often start over lunch. |
| 14:00 – 14:45 | 45 min | Ignite Talks: Science Five fast-paced talks with the most practice-relevant results from this year’s research program, with no slide-switching delays and no room for fluff. |
| 14:45 – 15:30 | 45 min | Ignite Talks: Industry Three practitioners, ten minutes each, and one honest account of what works in RE (and what doesn’t), followed by a short discussion. |
| 15:30 – 16:00 | 30 min | Coffee Break & Open Space Pitches Got a topic you want to dig into? Pin it to the board, because the afternoon belongs to you. |
| 16:00 – 17:30 | 90 min | Open Space / Unconference You propose and vote, and we hold two rounds of self-organized sessions where researchers and practitioners work on the problems that matter most to the room. At the end, each group shares its biggest takeaways. |
| 17:30 – 17:45 | 15 min | Wrap-up & Farewell We look back at our sticky notes and anticipations, share individual highlights of the day, and we close by looking at what will come next. |
